PDVD_037-1.jpgUTTHAAN - A NGO in Ranchi, Jharkhand, Inddia : A group of like minded development workers from different parts of Jharkhand tribal dominated areas, initiated in 1996 to serve the downtrodden of the society with principle “putting the last first”. Their zeal of difference was mingled through enunciating holistic development approach. To reach the goal, Utthaan strategies are to empower the powerless, ensure the grass root people’s participation in development process, and facilitate their increased access to local resource. It was registered under Indian Trust Act by Govt. of Bihar ( now – Jharkhand ) in the year 1996 bearing registration no 7404/IV 379 dated 02-09-1996 as non profit public & charitable trust – voluntary organization (NGO). In due period registered under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 31.5.2001 by Ministry of Home affairs, Government of India, New –Delhi bearing number 337800002 and further under sec 12 A Income Tax Act, 1961 bearing number VIII- 46 / 12A / 2001-02 dated 17.7.2002, PAN – AAATU0847 and also got exemption under sec 80G vide order VIII- 11 / 80G / 2002-03 / 1629-31 dated 17.3.2003 by Commissioner of Income Tax, Ranchi. Mounting towards the goal Utthaan - A Leading NGO in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India launched a number of programs at the beginning.

SCHOOL - Campaign Against Illiteracy

  Education being core area of Utthaan since its inception gather continued focus of the organisation in this year. Utthaan recognises illiteracy as the prime factor of social seclusion and exploitation of the disadvantaged group and firmly believes that road to empowerment and development goes via education. The present educational situation of Jharkhand is marked with acute dearth of educational infrastructure, even though the number of schools increased rapidly after formation of Jharkhand, it is still not sufficient. The main problem coming out in focus is enrolment and dropouts, the cause can be traced out to many reasons, the major being Lack of quality education, and awareness among rural masses about importance of education.

FORMAL EDUCATION

BIRSA SCHOOL, Sirango (Ranchi)-  In 2000-2001, 2400 sft. built area constructed over 3/4 acres donated land & run the school up to 9th level. Presently 568 tribal, Dalit (90%), & 10% others are getting formal education from class 1 to 10.

 HIGH SCHOOL, NAGRI & AMBEDKAR SCHOOL (Ranchi)

456 tribal & dalit children are getting formal education.

BIRSA SCHOOL, Baghmari (Chatra): 

245 girls and 147 boys are getting learn and earn non formal education with the assistance of Village community.
